About this deal

The XG27UQ is a fantastic monitor from my first impressions since it only delivered yesterday as of writing this review.

WIDE COLOR RANGE AND HIGH CONTRAST HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE (HDR) WITH DCI-P3 90% AND DISPLAYHDR 400 ROG Strix XG27UQ supports HDR technology across a range of luminance (up to 400cd/m2) to deliver a wider color range and higher contrast than traditional monitors. The ASUS is an IPS monitor with a slightly higher refresh rate, lower input lag, and higher peak brightness. It has excellent coverage of the DCI P3 color space used in most content and decent coverage of the wider Rec.

you know that Intel HD driver feature that brightens the content on the screen, while lowering the panel backlight power in tandem, to save power, but it kinda flattens (and sometimes clips) highlights? Overall, the ASUS ROG Strix XG27UQ and the LG 27GN950-B are very similar, but the LG has a slightly higher refresh rate of 160Hz. We started in the XG27UQ’s Racing mode, where initial measurements showed no great need for calibration. The LG 27GP850-B/27GP83B-B has a slightly faster max refresh rate, and a slightly faster response time.

In certain circumstances we reserve the right to charge a reasonable fee to comply with your request and we will ensure we respond to you within the deadlines set out within the applicable legislation. G-SYNC only works over a DisplayPort connection, and FreeSync's range is 20-120Hz over DisplayPort and 20-60Hz over HDMI. A few apps misbehave in interesting ways; TeamSpeak, for example, seen above, scales everything back from 150% to 100%, and there is no blurriness, but the “larger layout” (spacing, etc.For a 1080 Ti, maxed-out Dota 2 at 1440p 120hz is really trivial, but once you go to 4K, not anymore.

Well, I’ve only really tried Dota 2 so far, but man does it get sharp, especially with the game’s FXAA disabled. It’s not inaccurate to the point of being distracting, and you always have the sRGB mode (with flawed gamma? have yet to appear as well for graphics cards and so manufacturers were left with trying to find clever ways of getting around this limitation with what was currently available. If the colour space is >100% sRGB then the screen can produce a wider colour gamut, often reaching further in to the wider gamut DCI-P3 (commonly used for HDR) and Rec. We have a legitimate interest in using your personal data for marketing purposes (see above ‘How and why we use your personal data’). It covers the commonly-used sRGB color space entirely, and it has great coverage of the Adobe RGB color space used mostly in photo editing. ROG Strix XG27UQ features the latest ASUS Extreme Low Motion Blur technology, which achieves 1ms MPRT to eliminate smearing and motion blur, and makes objects in motion look sharper, so gameplay is more fluid and responsive.
