If cared for properly your Stormline product should last you years. Our skilled team here at Stormline design every piece of clothing with you in mindmeaning your products should only require the smallest amount of maintenance to ensure they last you. Have no fear, we have created a handy, easy to follow guide that will ensure you a swift and safe repair! What You Will Need For Clothing Repairs Line up the patch over the cut. This can be made easier by using a tailor’s pencil to draw a line extending either side of the cut, leaving a clearance of about 3cm either side (we don’t want chalk or wax under the patch). The centre of the patch can then be aligned with the tailor’s pencil line. First, cut a strip of seam seal tape about 4cm longer than the cut; this gives a 2cm overlap at each end.

If you do end up with glue on the iron, find a piece of scrap fabric such as an old t-shirt, turn the iron up to 3 and rub the glue off onto the t-shirt. Then use the scissors to round the ends of the tape. This reduces the risk of the patch snagging on things, and being torn off.

Your GORE-TEX® repairs and reproofing are carried out by our highly skilled, qualified and experienced team ensuring workmanship of the highest quality. We have genuine GORE-TEX® taping machines, fabrics and Seuter testing systems to ensure all our waterproof clothing repairs are totally waterproof. After your clothing has been repaired it is sealed by one of our WL Gore trained seam sealing specialists. ALL makes repaired

Notes

No matter your activity; be it hiking, camping or climbing your kit needs to be tough to withstand the wear and tear of the outdoors. If the patch starts to come undone in use, you can simply re-apply heat to the tape again, to re-glue it.

Leave the PVC glue to dry overnight to allow it to set completely. Failure to do this may result in the repair patches slipping or moving out of place. and then move the iron along the cut, feeding the tape and baking parchment under the iron, guiding the tape into place along the cut. When applying a patch repair, it’s important that it goes onto a clean surface as possible. Therefore it’s important to try and clean the affected area as much as possible. Now turn the garment inside out, and arrange it on the ironing board so that it is ‘relaxed’, with the fabric smooth but not being pulled tight. Again, you might need to support bits of the garment on the ironing board.

I’ve already put the paper in the hole, and aligned it. All that’s needed is to insert and align the tape. Again, the tailor’s pencil can come in handy; in this case, draw a couple of dots in the centre of the tape, slightly inside the ends of the cut. You can use these to align the patch relative to the cut. For the roll: Roll out a piece that will cover the tear with about an inch of space on all sides. Cut the tape from the rest of the roll. Trim the corners with scissors or a knife and round it out into either a circle or an oval. Eliminating corners decreases the chances of the patch catching on something and/or beginning to peel down the road. If there are any traces left, use a sponge and clean without rubbing so as not to remove the water-repellent treatment. Carefully align the two edges of the cut, and try to minimise the gap between them. Without disturbing the cut, carefully place a piece of masking tape on the cut to hold the edges of the cut together.Use scissors or a knife to cut the tape and round off the corners (this reduces the chance of it from catching and peeling up). For patches in stressed areas (knees, seat, etc), it may be worth applying a patch on both sides of the fabric, to provide more mechanical strength to the repair. Place the garment over the ironing board, as if you were about to iron over the cut, and smooth the fabric down. You might need to support dangling bits of the garment on the ironing board to stop them pulling the cut open. On the job, waterproof and PVC clothing will build up dirt and residue over time which can affect its efficiency and breathability. However, if you wash your products too much that can also affect their effectiveness. We advise that leaving waterproof clothing muddy is better than constantly cleaning it. Stormline provides first-class rain gear that is enduring and resistantto whatever the weather throws at you. You can expect products that are made to last, designed specifically for your industry, for the ultimate protection and durability. Repair & care for waterproofs, PVC gear and garments
